  • Loose Doorknobs, Locks and Handles

A door lock is something that is used numerous times a day and has many moving parts. This means different components keep the body lock together. Each of the parts is integral to making sure the lock moves smoothly, and if any one of these fails, the lock doesn’t work correctly. It is easier for a robber to break in your house if you have loose door locks, handles and knobs.

Fixing this can be easy if you know what you are looking for. Sometimes the connecting parts and screws might need replacing if worn out, and a residential locksmith best does this.

  • Misaligned Locks

This means the key locking mechanism is not lined up in a way that simplifies door locking functions. In most cases, the locking bolt or latch is not lined up with the door lock strike plate. These problems are as a result of not properly installed locks and doors or door frames warping due to weather changes.

Misaligned locks lead to broken door locks as you apply excess pressure on the locking bolt or latch when closing the door since it is not lined up with the strike plate.

  • Key Broken in The Lock

This mostly happens with jammed locks. When a lock is jammed, you apply a lot of pressure when opening the door. If this goes on for a while, the key can bend due to the pressure and depending on the material of the key. When the key become weak, next time you force it to open the lock, it breaks while it’s inside the lock.

To fix this, get a locksmith to avoid any more damages on your lock and to avoid jeopardizing your home security.

  • Jammed Locks and Latches

One problem that should never be ignored is jammed locks or latches. It is caused by the buildup of debris inside the locking mechanism or rust inside the lock. Jammed locks can have you sleeping outside or locked out for hours. They can also lead to other problems such as broken keys in the lock, faulty latches or bolts, among others.

Door lock problems should never be ignored. Contact a locksmith and get it checked if you feel that you can’t do it or if it is too complicated for you. Don’t risk the security of your home for something our locksmith can handle for you.
