A pipe is a substance that used to carry many materials like gases, liquids, powders, masses of small solids, slurries, etc. and it is in the shape of a hollow cylinder. It is also called tubes and it is known that in India pipes are used more than the usage of tubes. There are different diameters in pipes. The work done by using pipes is called piping and it is mostly used in plumbing, heating, provision of clean drinking water and sewage disposal. There are varieties of pipers like large diameter pipes and small diameter pipes. Pipes are mostly made of materials like PVC, cast iron, copper, steel or concrete.

Types of pipes:

As pipes are used for various applications it is classified into many types and all the pipes are used in different circumstances. The classification of pipes is mainly based on price, work, suitability, and usage. The plumbing and water supply pipes are of

  • Galvanized iron pipes
  • Cast iron pipes
  • Steel pipes
  • Copper pipes
  • Wrought iron piper
  • Vitrified clay pipes
  • Asbestos cement pipes
  • Plastic pipes

The above pipes are used for different applications like carrying water, gas, for the supply of water and they all differ in diameters.

Major plumbing component:

The plumbing component includes the process of piping and pipe joints are the major component in plumbing. It is the process of connecting various multiple pipes. Various pipe fittings are used to join the multiple pipes. The parts used in the connection of water supply, disposal of water, measurement, controlling is called as pipe fittings. The fittings like a collar, elbow, reducer, tee, gasket, nipple, trap, union, etc are used to join pipes and direct the flow of water or gases or any other material in a destined direction. These fittings are used in the process like joining, connecting pipes at different diameters, etc.

Meaning of corrugated pipes:

The pipes which contain the parallel ridges and furrows in its surface are called the corrugated pipes it follows the process perpendicular to and bisecting the centreline of the pipe. It is mostly used for underground drainage construction and it is highly resistant to abrasion, corrosive gases and chemicals. It is a tough material and it does have the capacity of rusting. It is mainly made of plastic and stainless steel material. It is cost-efficient and it can be installed easily. It is easier and safer to handle and reduces the cost and time of installation. The corrugated pipes are mostly used for under soil construction and it has the advantage of bearing different soil conditions and electric resistance. The plastic corrugated pipes have the capacity of dealing with higher pH value. Connecting corrugated pipes includes the methods of flexible pipe connections, coupling bands and so on.

Benefits of corrugated pipes:

Both the plastic and stainless steel pipes have their unique benefits in its applications. The plastic pipes have a longer life and they are very strong against acidic fluids. The stainless tubing is the traditional one and it is more flexible. The installation of stainless pipes can be done in a fraction of time as compared to other pipes.
